Meet the coach
David King will begin his second season as head coach of the Men’s and Women’s swimming program at Homer Center. During 2015, the inaugural year of the Homer Center Swim Team, he coached a swimmer, (Mikayla Dokos) that qualified for the PIAA District 6 Swimming and Diving Championships in all eight events. She also finished 5th in the AA 100 yard breaststroke at districts. The women’s team finished thirteenth out of seventeen teams at the district meet.
Coach King is also the head coach of the YMCA of Indiana County Piranhas Swim Team. This year-round program has been built into one of the finest swimming programs in the state of Pennsylvania in Coach King’s eight years as head coach. The Piranha Swim Team has achieved a dual meet record of 49-7-3 during King’s tenure as head coach. In 2015, the Piranha’s won the WPYSL Section Championship and the women were PA West District Champions.
Coach King has a family that includes his wife Catherine and his two daughters Julia and Ava. Julia and Ava both swim competitively. In August of 2014, the King family added a new member, David Joseph King. Coach King enjoys swimming, golf, and is an American Civil War enthusiast and reenactor.
